The political talk out of Washington is all about the creation of a new economic bailout bill for Americans and Businesses. This despite the fact they have been unable to get money from the prior $2.2 trillion dollar CARES package into the hands of workers and businesses. Weeks have passed and I have heard of no one or no business receiving any funds. Why would we allow them to continue extorting money from us on the basis of a crisis when they cannot disburse the funds already allocated in a timely manner? Shouldn't we wait to see the efficacy of the current program?
Politicians in both parties are pushing their agendas in the hopes Americans will continue to be complacent and compliant given the exaggerated crisis. They and the media have frightened the public and ruined the lives of millions of Americans and still they believe they have all the answers. The media focus is all about the negative statistics, or at least casting them in a negative light. This allows them to keep viewers, listeners, and readers engaged. Positive stats do not garner the same attention nor for the same length of time. The fear, panic and anxiety allows politicians to push through agendas they would never get through under other circumstance simply because people want answers and an end to the supposed crisis.
Below is a table of year to date deaths (as of 9:40 PM Apr. 12, 2020)and expected deaths for 2020 for causes claiming more lives than COVID-19. A real time version of this table can be found at virusdanger.com.

Cancer | 169,173 | 599,108 |
Medical error | 70,594 | 250,000 |
Accidents | 47,986 | 169,936 |

It is clear from the table, the media, CDC, WHO, and politicians have created much ado about something likely to have less impact this year than many other health issues. Why does COVID-19 warrant such intense focus while other issues do not? Because it allows agendas to be forwarded in ways they cannot under other circumstances.
Let's not allow ourselves to be hoodwinked by the wily individuals and organizations promoting this crisis. We are much more intelligent than they give us credit for. Certainly there are issues of concern surrounding COVID-19. The most important of which is its transmissibility. However, commonsense dictates following certain guidelines would allow sufficient control over the transmissibility to render the virus only brief commentary.
What common sense actions? Washing your hands frequently with soap and water, limiting social contacts, avoid handshakes, hugs and cheek kisses when meeting people, avoid large gathering where you might be placed in close proximity to someone carrying the virus and avoid individuals who are coughing or sneezing. All of these are actions we could all take, not just for the present crisis but anytime their is a transmissible disease circulating in our community, i.e. every flu and cold season.
So why has COVID-19 garnered such attention from the medical community? It opens the floodgates for unprecedented amounts of money. The original, now proven to have been erroneous, models predicting spread and outcomes were all developed by institutions tied to the medical field. They all stand to receive millions of dollars in research grants and aid as a result of the panic surrounding the crisis. The CDC and WHO were being faced with cutbacks in funding. They now will receive even more funding. Bio-research will now receive millions in funding. Pharmaceutical research will now receive millions in funding. New laboratories will be built, new staff will be employed. Some of these things can be positive but they need not be at the expense of all of the lost jobs, failed businesses and mental/emotional anguish of the American public.
It also opens the doors of opportunity to impose by fiat controls on the public. Controls that if not challenged now and in the near future will become the norm. It creates normalcy out of government intervention at an unprecedented level for future events. Whenever the government deems there is a need to act without constitutional authority all they need do is create fear in the public.
The cure to this particular disease will be much more harmful than the disease itself.
