December 30, 2021

As 2021 draws to a close, many are wondering, "What does 2022 portend?" Will we move beyond the events of the past year, or will there continue to be more of the same? While I have no crystal ball to give me the answers, I have some ideas. But before I get to them, let me preface my thoughts with a couple of observations.

This morning I read two articles. The first was why it is difficult to understand the contradictory science being touted by the mainstream media and the presumed scientific experts. We have all seen how the science surrounding COVID-19 has changed over the past two years. First, masks were not required, then they were. First, it was spread by contact, and then it was not. Next, it was to kill 2.2 million people in the US within a year, and then it was only going to be 220,000. Neither of these predictions was accurate. Finally, herd immunity would be achieved when 60 to 70 percent of the population had been infected and recovered or vaccinated. Now, herd immunity is not even mentioned. Everyone must get vaccinated. How are we to understand the rationale/logic behind these contradictions?

The authors' argument was that we, as lay individuals, cannot understand these things because we are not scientists. Only scientists with a minimum of a master's degree and years of work in the field of science are capable of understanding the nuance of these apparent contradictions. While I understand in part what the author was saying, I disagree understanding is beyond our grasp. I understand basic math, statistics, and probability. However, I do not understand quantum entanglement or how a quantum computer can be built using qubits having no assigned value or position in space or time. If you cannot discern any of these elements and a qubit can possess any of these characteristics at any point, how do you then determine the answer? But do I need a master's or doctor's degree and years of experience to know when the narrative of COVID-19 changes and the goal post is being moved? Is my understanding of math, statistics, and probability so lacking that I cannot recognize when the data is manipulated to fit a particular narrative? Probably, after all, I am one of the deplorables.

The second article, "Omicron shows the COVID vaccines work. 'Breakthrough case' is a misunderstood term." by Dr. Jacob M. Lurie and Dr. Gunnisha Kaur and published on NBS News. The article's premise is vaccines were never meant to eradicate diseases but only to reduce hospitalizations and deaths. Therefore it is to be expected 'breakthrough cases' will be inevitable. I am not sure what generation these two doctors belong to, but I grew up in the age of vaccine development. When Pasteur developed the smallpox vaccine, he didn't just hope to reduce hospitalizations and deaths. He hoped to eliminate both of these. Likewise, the expectation for the SALK and the SABIN polio vaccines was to prevent the disease, not just mitigate the outcomes. This was true for the Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Diptheria, and Tetanus vaccines. The goal has always been to eliminate/eradicate the disease. While Smallpox is the only disease where this has been possible and took many decades to achieve, the goal has always been the same. It is only recently, with the Flu vaccine and now the many COVID-19 vaccines, that the goal has been shifted to reduce hospitalizations and deaths. And this was only after science was caught in their deception regarding the efficacy of the vaccines. The stated goal of the scientific community when they began the development of the vaccines was eradication/elimination of the disease.

The COVID-19 vaccines were rushed through the rigorous trials process, even avoiding trial phases. How in 6 months of trials were they ever going to be able to determine long-term efficacy? Now, with a year of EUA (emergency use authorization), they are finding the vaccines do not have the 90% plus efficacy they claimed. So first, they recommend a booster to improve the efficacy. Now it is beginning to look like a booster every six months. What else did they not discover about the vaccines during the short trial phase? How long must we be their human guinea pigs?

So, getting back to the original question. What does the New Year have in store? I believe we can expect more lies, deception, obfuscation, moving of the goal posts, and misdirection. We can expect those in a position of power to continue their efforts to gain more power and money. We can expect the issues plaguing our nation and the world to continue unabated.

This is not to say there is no hope. On the contrary, there is always the hope a sufficient number of the population will wake up to the reality of what has been occurring and will be willing to take a stand against the abuse of power and overreach by governments around the world. All it takes is enough people saying 'no more' for things to change. So let's make 2022 the year of 'No More.'
